Functions of Minerals

A wide body of systems are affected by the function of minerals:

  • Beating of the heart
  • Clotting of the blood
  • Maintaining nerve responses
  • Transporting oxygen
  • Building of bones and teeth
  • Control of body fluids
  • Regulation of digestion
  • Governing energy metabolism
  • Regulation of other minerals and vitamins
  • Assisting in glucose metabolism
Building and regulating are a mineral's job. Because we are less healthy than past generations for numerous reasons, we must supplement our body with them. Remember, minerals come strictly from diet - the body does not produce them and with our lack of nutrient rich food in today's society, we have to add them. Ionic minerals (electrically charged) are superior to non-ionic minerals and are more easily absorbed into the intestinal tract cells. Then the body may use them where they are required.
